A homeowner’s guide to cabinet painting
October 27, 2021What can cause your kitchen cabinet painting project to flop?
November 30, 2021Are you tired of scrolling through Pinterest, saving pictures of beautifully painted rooms that are brightly lit and look opulent and spacious?
If your gallery is filled with images of your dream home, you may look around you and be disheartened by what you’re seeing.
As someone who believes that any home can be converted into your dream home, however, I have a few tips that will help you start creating your own😊
Having more space is often the biggest part of your ideal home and over the years, I’ve come to realize that the size of a room doesn’t matter as much as we think it does; it’s often the color of your walls that enhances the perception of space.
If you want to create the illusion of space with clever painting tips, here are paint colors that are both trendy and are very effective at adding volume to your rooms!
- Sage/light green
Here, I’m referring to the earthier shade of green that creates a laid-back atmosphere in your spaces. In addition to making your rooms look bigger, this unique shade can add that flair you need to make your space more dramatic.
Given that it falls on the cooler side of the paint spectrum too, it can create a very calm and relaxing atmosphere in your home.
A point to keep in mind when choosing which walls you want to paint is to go for rooms that feature hardwood floors, stone tiles, or even rooms that open out to nature.
- White
You can’t create a list of paint colors that make rooms look bigger and not add white to it!
If your rooms look cluttered and a tad bit claustrophobic because of the saturated colors in them, a touch of white can make all the difference.
White, after all, is still a classic choice today for a very good reason; its reflective nature is exceptionally good at manipulating the size of any room visually.
Being the easiest choice of the lot, white offers plenty of choice and versatility in terms of combining tones and color schemes because of how easy it is to pair.
That said, to create the perfect aesthetic inside your home, you need to choose the right shade of white—no two shades are the same!
- Taupe
Another brilliant paint choice for making your rooms look bigger is taupe.
Whether it’s selecting a color for your walls or cabinets, this choice is an absolute all-rounder. With its chic and elegant finish, taupe is the current trendsetter in most newly designed homes my team and I work on.
The shade is perfect for creating calming and minimalist residences and is a great choice if you want to avoid going for the same-old choices for your walls.
- Grey
If white is not the shade you want to go for, grey is a popular alternative 🙂
Cooler shades of grey are a great choice for modern homes and can be the perfect choice for spaces with moderate amounts of light.
To achieve that expansive yet cozy feel inside your home, this color is a surefire winner. Because it has a mixture of two parent colors, black and white, it also lends your interior a subtle, understated sophistication.
- Pastel colors
Pastels are a fan favorite right now and for good reason: these shades include light yellows, baby pinks and blues, and light pistachio tones. Beyond just providing a great welcoming effect, it can also enhance how big a room looks and feels.
It’s also a great choice if you’re looking to add a retro appeal to your space without being too garish about it!
Combine and contrast these colors with geometric prints to create accent walls (or amazing selfie walls!) in your home.
